No not dead.

Well it’s been a very long time since I posted anything here. All I can really say about the last year or so is crap happens.

Still in Calgary currently staying with my mother for the summer. Putting life back together. One of these days I’ll sort it out.

Started new job today. It was actually kind of nice starting at 8am instead of 6am. I never like being new to a job, it's very disconcerting not knowing what exactly is going on or what you need to do. Despite all that I think I'm going to like it, it is certainly a lot less stress then my last job, with better pay as well. The warehouse is very clean, people seem pretty nice, and of course the best part, no customers wandering around warehouse getting in the way of me trying to do my job.

And I've started doing Yoga classes with a friend of mine, hopefully this will encourage more getting myself out of the house which I have been so bad at lately

Okay so no I’m not dead. I’ve felt pretty darn close to it the last few months though. My job has basically become this terrible bundle of insane stress that has been eating away at my will to do anything outside of work. The department I run is about 20% busier then last year, but with half the staff we had last year, because simply no one is willing to do the job for the pay offered. Sufficed to say this is not fun.

However about an hour ago I got a call back from a warehouse I applied to work at and woohoo! I got the job. And because it is a warehouse it means I NEVER have to deal with customers. Finally I have crawled my way out of customer service completely. Considering the fact I have always hated customer service this is very very good news for me. Oh and the job also pays $3 an hour more then I make right now. So as of May 11 I should actually be able to have a life again.

Oh and as for what has eaten up the rest of my life outside work. All I can say is the program Second Life is very very dangerous for anyone who likes Star Wars role play.

Well to say the least the last few weeks have been tiring but rewarding.

The big highlight was Halloween. I mean what other day of the year do you get to go to work dressed as a Jedi? I had a lot of fun and I won the costume contests, with a prize of fifty dollars, woo hoo!

The boxes in the house are beginning to reach a reasonable level, meaning you can walk around without having to climb over anything any more.

Work has been pretty exhausting. I expected things to be a lot slower by now going into winter but the pace isn’t really letting up. It doesn’t really help when most of my staff are new and they don’t know how to run any of the lift equipment yet. They are all great guys they just need time to gain experience.

It also finally hit me this week that this is the first time that I am the one “in charge” at work. I have been second in command at several jobs now but never actually been the one responsible for running things. Now of course there are still tons of people above me in the management chain, but I have pretty much sole responsibility for my department and the people in it. I have had a few “oh my gosh I’m completely screwing this up” panic moments. But they pass, and I fix things, and everything so far is working out okay.

Oh and I have the next four days off so that makes everything better!

Well most of our stuff in now at our new place. Urgh you never quite realize how much stuff you really have until you have to move. Now it is time for the fun of moving everything around until it looks right and unpacking all the boxes.

In the midst of this I got some good news at work today. I am now officially in charge of my department, this is much better then the quasi in charge status I've had the last three weeks. Promotion means pay raise woo hoo!

We signed the lease today so as of tomorrow we officially take possession of the new place. I'm really excited about it. I'm also rather eager to leave my current apartment as a very noisy family has moved in upstairs. We have a u-haul reserved for the 22nd so we'll get all the big moving done then. Until then it's packing time, something I have thankfully already started working on. Not surprisingly at least half of the boxes so far are full of books. I tend to be more then willing to throw out old stuff I've accumulated, except the books. I even kept most of the novels I had to read in school. Then of course there is the massive collection of gaming books we have.

Now I just have to get the utilities sorted out on Monday. They are having trouble understanding the definition of a "duplex" and "separate utilities". Oh well at least the new landlord is being really helpful in sorting it out.

Oh yes and I also have to survive the next week at work of being quasi in charge of my department while having almost no staff. Ah challenges.

Alright so to fulfill the purpose of this journal I guess I should write something about the goings on of my life.

First off last week I got a car, a car that actually works! After over a year of putting up with having no vehicle I have had enough. So now I own a 96 teal Chevy cavalier, ah freedom, wonderful freedom!

I’m also going to be moving this month, confirmed as of tonight kosmic, ranakanth and I are going to move into a house in Mayland Heights (just east of Deerfoot on 16th). It’s a three bedroom place so it actually has room for us all. It’s the lower level of a house, but I get to have a yard finally yay! And the Landlord seems to be a responsible person, so I don’t have to put up with the very lax maintenance at my current place any more.

Alright given how terrible I am at keeping people updated about my life I will finally give in and create an online journal. Don’t know how much I will actually use it but I’ll at least record major events here so that I don’t have to try and remember who I have and have not told about such things.
